This weeks Friday Find is a thought provoking one. The photo shows a First World War recruitment campaign in Piccadilly Gardens.
It is 99 years ago today that Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated. The resulting chain of events led, within a month, to the start of the First World War.
Tomorrow the Archives+ team are attending an Armed Forces Day event which is also being held in Piccadilly Gardens. We can only wonder what happened to this group of fresh faced recruits so many years ago, but we hope that you’ll all take a minute to reflect upon those who’ve stood and fought in defence of their country.
