The Archives+ team took a stand at the Manchester Metropolitan University International Students’ Fair on September 18th.  The Ahmed Iqbal Ullah Race Relations Resource Centre and Education Trust and the North West Film Archive were there along with Angela Rawcliffe, the Archives+ Learning Officer and Nicky Crewe, the Opening Up Archives trainee based at the Greater Manchester County Record Office.

There was a great atmosphere as hundreds of international students from a wide range of home countries came to explore what Manchester and MMU have to offer.

Students of fashion, business and architecture were particularly interested in our County Record Office display. It also gave us the chance to explain about the Archives+ partnership and our move back to Central Library next Spring. It’s good to be able to signpost people to online resources whilst some of the archives are closed during the big move.
As always seems to happen when we take the archives to public events, there were some great connections made.

A warm welcome to all the new students in Manchester. We hope our paths will cross again!
