This weeks Friday Find was prompted by Nicky finding this lovely picture of Dusty Springfield at the Charter Street Ragged School Christmas Fair in December 1969.
We had a lovely couple of minutes cooing over Dusty, wondering why she was in Manchester, why she was at this particular Christmas Fair and who these children are. Then I started writing this blog post and a terrible thought struck me,
“does anyone under the age of 30 remember Dusty Springfield?”.
I remember her pop careers brief revival in the mid 1980′s when she did a duet with the Pet Shop Boys but I was barely a teenager. “Son of a Preacher Man” was used in the soundtrack for the film Pulp Fiction but that was almost twenty years ago.
I started scouting around to see if we had anything else in the archives that related to more contemporary musicians and found this…
and also this fantastic picture of Jimmy Somerville and Andy Bell at the Never Going Underground concert in 1988
North West Film Archive have wonderful footage, from a student documentary, of Roxy Music fans getting ready for a concert at the Opera House.

I’m afraid I failed to find anything on One Direction and as for The Wanted, well we were found wanting. I did however find some fantastic pictures of Bay City Rollers fans, I’m saving those for a grey, rainy day when we need cheering up!
